When Amelia Came to Michigan

A revealing look at the life and times of Amelia Earhart, who visited Michigan more than 25 times in 8 years.

THE WOMAN WHO FLEW – AMELIA COMES TO THE LIBRARY

White Lake Community Library will host a lecture and visual presentation “When Amelia Came to Michigan” on Thursday, September 7 at 2:00. Presenters Al and Dave Eicher of Program Source International, uncovered over 25 trips Amelia Earhart made to Michigan from 1928 to 1936.

Why did Earhart come here so often? In the 1920’s, more than 40 airports were built  as Michigan’s rich transportation industry grew across the state. Earhart was in great demand to speak to Rotary’s, Chambers of Commerce, colleges and teachers, as she was entertained by captains of industry. She also christened new cars, cut ribbons for openings, test- piloted new aircraft and promoted air passenger and air mail services.

The Eichers will take us back in time. We’ll see pictures and listen to the music from the 20’s and 30’s while we learn about Earhart’s childhood, family, education and early flying experiences.  Come and learn more about the exceptional life of an early aviator, author and adventurer, who disappeared when she was 39 years old.
