The Art of Giving - in Memory of Sally June Weersing
Stained Glass Window Presented to Library
The Art of Giving

“Art of Giving”, a 4 by 6 foot stained glass window, commissioned by Friends and Family of Sally June Weersing will be dedicated on September 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the White Lake Community Library - 3900 White Lake Drive in Whitehall, Michigan. The Window was installed In memory of Sally June Weersing (1937-2014) to honor her dedication to life, community, arts, religion, family, and the White Lake Community Library.

Pristine Glass Co. Stained Glass Studio in Grand Rapids, Michigan constructed the window using transparent Cathedral Glass made in Kokomo, Indiana. Michael MacKenzie and team also created over 100 original pieces of beveled glass, and incorporated jewels from Germany to make a beautiful burst of blues and greens that give off an iridescent glow when touched by the sun. Trudy Nicely Kniff coordinated the project from promotion through production as a tribute to her friend Sally. “We wanted a piece that illustrated Sally’s boundless energy, vibrancy and love of life and nature”, said Trudy.

“Art of Giving” now hangs in the center top window of the entrance to the Library. Sally’s son, Nate, and granddaughter, Sarah, from England will be attending the dedication. A plaque with major donors' names will eventually be present in the lobby. Donations are still being accepted to help pay for the installation of the piece. Anyone interested in donating toward the installation of this piece in memory of Sally Weersing can leave your contact information at the White Lake Community Library and it will be forwarded to the appropriate contacts.
